About Me
My Story
Metalwork for function and beauty.
Drawn to metalwork through curiosity and fascination with the process, I began welding while working in the Tanque Verde School District as a Spanish teacher and Technology Integration Specialist. The soothing glow of heated metal was my downtime to reflect on lesson success and challenge and plan for future classroom adventure. “Solaz” is Spanish for solace. Solace is what my alone time creating in metal offered me.
Sewing with Metal
Designing inviting shadow play and crisp defined patterns with by my solar Shadow Lights is my passion. It is a study in drawing in negative space to cast enchanting and surprising textures of light. I am inspired by whimsy and on-going experimentation with motion and visual engagement as I gaze into the saguaro and cholla forest behind my shop in Northeast Tucson. Solaz Designs landscape lighting is available in solar and low-voltage. Solar lights are up to 20", Low-voltage versions can be ordered to any height. Come enjoy metal art in Tucson.

My style, craft and knowledge has continued to grow during and beyond my years in education and now I am proud and excited to be putting all my efforts into the further development and expansion of Solaz Designs.
